Family Adventure Treks
The Birds Are Back in Town!
Sat., Dec 14th | 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm | Middle Harbor Shoreline Park, Oakland
Thousands of birds have migrated to California for the winter, including stunning waterfowl in their breeding plumage! Join Lew Lew Lion, Taj "Mr. Wolf", and Tony "Hawk" as they lead you and your family through Middle Harbor Shoreline Park, a hidden gem in the Port of Oakland! We'll talk about the health of San Francisco Bay's wetlands, and the extensive work being done to restore them. We'll have snacks, hot chocolate, and other beverages for your enjoyment as we walk. Bring your own binoculars or use the ones we provide to look for Buffleheads, Western Grebes, Double-Crested Cormorants and more!
For birders (and wannabe birders) ages 6 and up! Children under 12 must be accompanied by a paying adult. We encourage parents to come with their children, it's a great outing for the whole family!
$25 for first person in a group, $15 for each additional person in a group.
If you have any questions or concerns, or need a ride from San Francisco, please email Taj at email@example.com.
Date, Time, and Place TBD -- Likely Mid-January, 2014
With winter rains come salamanders and frogs! Things may be drippy for us, but amphibians love it, and they'll be out looking for love and looking for prey! We'll go on a hike to find Pacific Newts (like the one pictured), Chorus Frogs, Arboreal Salamanders, Ensatinas, and even Giant Salamanders!
Check back for more information!
