Each site offers unique features that enhance our Wild Science approach to learning- check out each site to see which is a fit for you!

 
 

Golden gate Park- large camp

  • ”Bigs” -All full day camps are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, for rising 1st - 5th graders.

  • ”Littles” Half Day -All half day camps are from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, for rising Kindergartners with additional aftercare hours running from 2:30-4:30 PM.

Tree Frog Treks is back for another summer of Wild Science at Golden Gate Park, with both Half-Day Camps and Full-Day Camps available! During each camp session, campers will meet live animals, perform fun experiments, build connections and critical thinking skills through adventuring in nature with peers and instructors. Come meet Blondie the Burmese Python, Trucker the Tortoise, Artemis the Blue-tongued Skink, and Jumpy the White’s Tree Frog - to name some of our nearly 100 Animal Ambassadors! We play games and tell stories to bring many unseen aspects of our urban habitats to life for our campers. Golden Gate Park, an expansive urban oasis in San Francisco, holds a treasure trove of fun facts and wonders. Covering over 1,000 acres, it's larger than New York's Central Park! The park is home to a diverse array of ecosystems, featuring lush gardens, serene lakes, and unique landscapes to discover. Campers can explore the stunning Japanese Tea Garden, the oldest of its kind in the U.S., or marvel at the vibrant Conservatory of Flowers, a Victorian-era greenhouse housing over 1,750 plant species- don't forget to trek by the famous bison paddock on your way to the beach, where the park's iconic herd roams. With its rich local history, diverse wildlife, and endless recreational opportunities, it’s no wonder that Golden Gate Park is one of our favorite spots.


McLaren park- large camp

Nestled within the heart of San Francisco, McLaren Park is a hidden gem teeming with fascinating attributes. Covering over 300 acres, it is the second-largest park in the city, providing a sprawling refuge for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Home to more than 200 bird species, it serves as a vital habitat and an excellent birdwatching spot. The park features an impressive network of trails, perfect for hiking, biking, and exploring, alongside stunning vistas of the city skyline. Unique attractions include the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater, paying homage to the Grateful Dead guitarist, and the sky high water tower- great for story telling in the shade. With its diverse ecosystems and vibrant recreational options, McLaren Park is a hot spot for Naturalizing and discovery for the summer!

Nestled in the vibrant heart of the Diamond Heights neighborhood, Glen Canyon Park is a hidden gem that offers a perfect blend of nature and adventure. With its 70 acres of stunning landscapes, this urban oasis features towering cliffs, winding trails, and a rich diversity of wildlife. Fun facts about Glen Canyon include its unique geological formations, remnants of past quarrying activities, and its role as an essential habitat for many bird species.

Outdoor enthusiasts and young explorers can traverse various trails, including the scenic Glen Canyon Trail, which leads to panoramic views of the canyon and surrounding areas. For those looking to expand their exploration, we encourage our Naturalists to take advantage of the nearby parks, utilizing "BMW" (Bus, Muni, Walk) to discover even more wonders! Whether it’s a guided nature walk or a playful scavenger hunt, Glen Canyon offers endless opportunities to connect with nature and make lasting memories. Let’s gear up for an adventure!

Discover the wonders of nature at Holly Park, San Francisco's small park in the Mission/Bernal neighborhood! Nestled in a quaint area, this is our most mobile camp, allowing us to explore every nook and cranny of this small but vibrant park. With a keen eye, campers can uncover fascinating wildlife and intriguing plants by looking high in the trees and low amongst the underbrush. Plus, Holly Park’s proximity to Frog Hall, the Tree Frog Treks headquarters, means we're just a hop, skip, and jump away from all our exciting resources.
