A letter from our Mr Science, Tree Frog Treks Founder Chris Giorni:

Mr Science and Rocky!

Mr Science and Rocky!

It’s tough. It’s unprecedented. We can do this and teach our kids, too. Please join us as we Get Out and Get Dirty - in our own backyard - flipping stones and flowerpots looking for bugs and slugs and even salamanders!  Go visit a nearby pocket park or beach and explore in a safe environment. Learn chemistry by raiding the kitchen cabinets and do physics from your back deck. And 'eat the earth" at lunch time as you smell the atmosphere of your apple, then break through the crust and mantle, and then compost the core (unless you are hard core in which case you’ll eat the entire earth, core and all!).  Remember to stay local as much as you can so our most popular wild spaces don't get over-run with too many cars and visitors.  We can all be creative about our Green 15's (a Green 15 is a 15-minute walk on grass or ground). We need to maintain physical distance from people, so go find a hidden stairway, a road less traveled, or a magical pocket park. City Hall says physical-distance bicycle riding is OK! Bike-15!  Enjoy your green from a safe scene.

One thing is for sure we want our kids to be happy, healthy and self-motivated to learn.  I know firsthand, with a family of 3 kids, that anxieties can run high, missing friends is a daily challenge and just rough housing on the old playground during a kickball game seems like ages ago. Take it one day at a time but plan each day.  We may have a long trail ahead of us, so let’s go deep, build some forts and do some Wild Science!

Be empowered to learn on your own while we wait, wonder and hope. Be smart. Be safe. Plan ahead.  Listen to your heart.  Listen to your family.  And most of all: Take the Leap of Knowledge! And like “Jumpy the frog said to Trucker the tortoise “We’ve got to stick together!”.

Look up,

Look around

See what can be found:

Nature Abounds!

Thank you! We could not do this without YOU and all of our dedicated, talented, mission driven staff.

Be well.

Chris Giorni, Mr. Science

Here at Tree Frog Treks, the health and safety of our campers, families, and staff is our number one priority. We’ve prepared the following information for you to address any concerns surrounding COVID 19 and TFT programming.

TFT COVID 19 Safety Plan for Summer 2024

Based on the SF Dept. of Public Health guidelines we will not be requiring masks outdoors for our 2024 Summer Camps. The SFDPH Health Directives say this: “Face masks are not required outdoors as the risk of transmission is low in most outdoor settings.” Our small groups of 16 stay together for two weeks to reduce exposures.

We are looking forward to a healthy and happy summer together with your kids outside - the safest place to be, with our vaccinated staff and campers!
